Unboxing the Huawei P40 Pro Plus, the most premium of the 2020 flagship line-up and one of the best camera phones around. Let’s take a full tour of the hardware and software, testing out the 10x optical zoom and checking out what’s different vs the standard Pro.
This phone will be released in the UK on June 25, for a price of £1299. That’s right up there with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Oppo Find X2 Pro and other mega-flagships.
So, the Huawei P40 Pro Plus once again sports a IP68 design, but this time made of super-tough ceramic. It’s another 6.58-inch beast of a mobile, complete with OLED screen and the latest EMUI 10 software. This serves up all kinds of great features, on top of Android 10.
Huawei’s own Kirin 990 5G platform provides slick performance, so gaming isn’t a problem. Bear in mind however that you won’t have Google Play access – it’s the App Gallery all the way, for downloading fresh apps.
One of the highlights of the P40 Pro Plus however is undoubtedly that super-smart 5-lens rear camera. This offers incredible autofocus, brilliantly natural photo capture and premium video recording features. On top of which you have a 10x optical zoom and 100x hybrid zoom to rival the Samsung S20 Ultra.
