whats the point in the fold its only 7.3in my note 8 is 6.4in, if it was a fold of 2 note 8's in size or something similar then id be interested. think ill upgrade to a note 10 instead of side step to the fold. also whats the point in the titchy outer screen?

Some of you guys really gonna buy this shit? In my opinion they both look horrible. Don't throw your money away, for a two-in-one "thing" which will be broken in less than three months. It seems like nobody cares about the other fold Handys, which were made years ago. The line where you fold, splitted apart. And I don't think, that it will be different with these two. I'm a big huawei fan, but this is just… A big step back. I don't know what these two company's thought while making these phones.

So the Mate X would be prone to scratches, but resistant to shattering/cracks? HmmmmMMMmmMMMmmm…..Might even end up being cheaper to fix/ replace if i think about it.

i'd go for the samsungl, due to it being more protected.. i hate scratches. i'll wait around 2 years though, for the tech to be really mature and 5g to be implement. foldable phones, 5g and google stadia, all makes it clear to me, that the future is awesome!

OK I'm really tempted to get one of these devices, even though it would be more sensible to wait for the second generation of foldable devices – but I love tech and come on, a foldable phone! Not sure which I'll get – I've always gone for Samsung, currently have Note 9, Tab S4 and Galaxy Watch 4G. I prefer the book style folding of the Samsung that protects the larger screen, even if it does make the device thicker – although they have done a good job making it look premium and well designed. Apart from the bloody awful front screen! Don't know how they could make it with such a huge bezel, I'm all for having a smaller front screen than the largest premium smartphones of today, even my Note 9 can be hard to use one handed if trying to reach the far corners, its still usable but makes it harder to grip securely. So a smaller front screen ideal for one handed use that opens into a big tablet style screen is a fantastic concept. I'm even OK with the inner screen being smaller than the Mate X as its not really intended to be a top-end tablet replacement, but a phone that can offer a larger screen when desired. I would still stick with a 10"+ tablet with keyboard case and take it with me when I know I will specifically want the bigger screen space for certain tasks, whereas a foldable phone would be great for just being able to use as a normal phone and switch to a bigger screen on demand. But going down to the tiny 4.6" front screen is really disappointing. That's the one thing that will make me consider the Mate X, which will feel more like a current premium smartphone thanks to a healthy folded screen size, plus I would appreciate the bigger unfolded screen especially as it doesn't make it bulkier than the Samsung. I've heard the Samsung Fold will come with the Galaxy Buds though and I would like to get these, plus the Fold will be available sooner, so if the EE price plans aren't too ridiculous in the UK then I'm leaning towards getting the Fold and seeing if the Mate X is any better when it is released later. Considering the Fold will be more than twice the price of almost every other premium smartphone I'm interested to see if the contract price plans will require a large up-front payment or just have a significantly higher monthly amount.

So the Galaxy fold is sacrificing looks for performance, and Mate X is sacrificing performance for looks??? Not to sure about the Mate X, but I might just go for the Galaxy Fold.

Samsung and Huawei are fighting each other with their newest foldable smartphones, while Apple is watching and having no clue what to do next.

Both of them are 1st generation of folding screen. It's a brilliant idea but galaxy fold has that new wifi thing and power share so it is more practical on daily usage plus samsung pay plus all the other stuff they're having right now

yeees great idea….give 2000$ for a screen that can scratch with my nails….instead of giving me that!! go back and learn how to make glass bendable…i dont care how, but its the only chance i am giving you 2000$ for those!!
