Sony Xperia XZ3 Long-Term Review | Still worth it in 2019?

Long-term review of the Sony Xperia XZ3, a month before the launch of the XZ4 at MWC 2019. Should you still buy the XZ3 flagship phone, or hold off for the new handset?

Sony’s latest premium mobile stands apart from rivals in many ways, from the unique design to the impressive set of custom features. Even months following its launch, the Xperia XZ3 excels for media thanks to that superior OLED screen and the impressive audio chops. And while Sony has stuck with a single lens camera for the back end, this mobile can shoot great-looking photos and brilliant 4K HDR video – although the results at night aren’t quite a match for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro or LG’s V40.

Of course, with the imminent launch of the new XZ4 flagship, would we still recommend the XZ3 – especially as you’ll be getting the speedy and power-efficient Snapdragon 855 chipset, and possibly a fully-evolved new Motion Eye camera?

Check back tomorrow (Jan 31) for a full comparison with the Mate 20 Pro and you can see my long-term reviews of other smartphone rivals including the OnePlus 6T and Huawei’s P20 Pro.

Wife has been using this phone for 2 months with shit load of apps open and everything, no slow down or anything for her. Also runs PUBG on high settings. We have the 6GB memory version. xD

I so much appreciate you for still bringing out the hidden features in Sony phones to us that are just in love with their products.
Meanwhile, can I humbly request for a long term review of XZ2 Premium especially now that the phone is a year older?……..thanks ?

I,v had Sony experia flagship phones since the z1, boy they know how to make them. The batteries have always been very good, the screens have 1st class and some really great designs. The bezels have never been distracting to me, I think it actually defines the Sony brand it may sound daft, but that's just my opinion. I currently have the xz3 in that red and it does look classy, I got bored with black phones a few years ago cos everyone seemed to have black. That was a great review of the xz3 ?

The bezeless and multi camera features are totally superficial and superfluous respectively. . They don't make the phone any better and are just aesthetic features dictated by industry trend. I read a GSM review and they completely overlooked this phone. They were knocking the lack of industry trends and forgot to acknowledge just how amazing this phone is. Then I saw an advert for Samsung S10 and gagged. I thought NO! I'm not going to be a sheep like all the rest and waste my money on tripe. I'll stick with Sony. At least least they know how to build phones.

I still think the "original" Sony Xperia XZ premium looks better….
I really liked that "squarish" unique look… Now it just sorta reminds me of Samsung with a few touches here and there. Sorta disappointed.
